As women and children lose their loved ones due to religious persecution in Nigeria, we provide them with intimate and effective trauma counseling at African Widow and Orphan Support.
After experiencing a trauma, it can be difficult to find your bearings, and sometimes, to hold onto your faith. At African Widow and Orphan Support, we strive to combat evil by providing a helpful hand and listening ear to others through our trauma counseling services.
During our trauma counseling sessions, African widows and orphans are given a safe space among their peers to share their experiences, process their pain and listen to the pain of others. For some, this is the first time they are able to discuss their loss with anyone. Through open discussion, understanding and prayer, we hope to provide comfort to our grieving widows and orphans and remind them of God’s love even in unimaginable circumstances.
In order to heal from traumatic situations, forgiveness often plays a crucial role. By participating in our trauma healing sessions, our widows are able to begin the healing process and learn how forgiveness of those who have wronged them can provide some relief to their sorrow.
Over 30,000 widows have been reached through our economic empowerment and trauma healing sessions. By helping our widows and orphans connect with one another, pray for one another and take their pains to the cross, they can reclaim their lives and see God again.
Our non-profit organization thrives on donations, which are directed toward the widows and orphans we help. If you are able, please make a donation to our cause. Donations can be made by check to AWOS and mailed to: AWOS, c/o Dr. Marvin W Heyboer, 5839 Lyn Haven Dr SE, Kentwood, MI 49512. Any bit helps.
