African Widow & Orphan Support

For over 20 years, our non-profit volunteer ministry has worked tirelessly to provide relief, aid and humanitarian support to thousands of African widows and orphans throughout Nigeria.

Each year, thousands of African men are persecuted and killed because of their religious beliefs — leaving women without their husbands and some children, all alone. At African Widow and Orphan Support, it is our mission to provide assistance, Christian counsel and comfort to surviving widows and families of men killed in religious and tribal conflicts within Africa.

Christianity is a widely practiced religion in Nigeria; however, there are some who still do not embrace it. In an effort to move and advance ministry in Africa, AWOS is closely affiliated with TEKAN, an alliance of 21 evangelical Nigerian denominations, with over 21 million members. By offering compassion, rescue and rehabilitation to those who have had their lives shattered by persecution, we strive to create meaningful and lasting change in the face of violence.

After experiencing trauma and loss, it can be difficult — and sometimes feel almost impossible — to get back on your feet. Our ministry offers a selection of support services designed to help widows and orphans redeem their lives. Some of our widow and orphan support services include: trauma healing, job training, economic empowerment, academic aid for children and much more.

Our non-profit organization thrives on donations, which are directed toward the widows and orphans we help. If you are able, please make a donation to our cause. Donations can be made by check to AWOS and mailed to: AWOS, c/o Dr. Marvin W Heyboer, 5838 Lyn Haven Dr SE, Kentwood, MI 49512. Any bit helps.
