At African Widow and Orphan Support (AWOS), we strive to make a difference in the lives of African widows and orphans throughout Nigeria.

Each year, thousands of Christian Nigerians are murdered because of their religious beliefs — taken from their homes, their families and their community. Our nonprofit ministry provides extensive aid to the women and children who are impacted by the extremists in their country. By offering a safe and welcoming space to these individuals, we hope to continue sharing God’s work throughout Africa.

After experiencing a trauma, it can be difficult to find your footing, and sometimes, refind your faith. Living your life again can feel almost impossible. At AWOS, we provide everything for these individuals to redeem their lives, from emotional support and trauma counseling to grieving widows to academic financial aid for their children. We also offer economic empowerment through care-giver training, job training and money management.

In an effort to move and advance ministry in Nigeria, AWOS is closely affiliated with TEKAN, an alliance of 21 evangelical denominations of Nigeria, with 21 million+ members.

Thousands of Nigerians are persecuted each year because of their Christian beliefs. It is our goal to rescue and rehabilitate the African widows and orphans who are most affected by this hatred. With your help, we hope to continue making a difference in as many lives as possible.

Our non-profit organization thrives on donations, which are directed toward the widows and orphans we help. If you are able, please make a donation to our cause. Donations can be made by check to AWOS and mailed to: AWOS, c/o Dr. Marvin W Heyboer, 5839 Lyn Haven Dr SE, Kentwood, MI 49512. Any bit helps.
